PILI, CamSur (November 18) - Provincial employees are set to receive an unexpected windfall as Governor LRay Villafuerte announced that all employees of the provincial government will be given an additional P10,000 cash gift payable before Christmas.
Governor Villafuerte personally delivered the good news at the Capitol main building lobby early this month during the opening ceremonies of the maiden staging of the Gov. LRay Sportsfest 2009.
The additional bonus, double the P5,000 given last year, is an added fringe benefit aside from the regular 13th month pay, already given to Capitol employees last week, paid to all workers as mandated by law.
The governor informed the employees, who were caught off guard by the news, that he was very happy to be able to make the announcement, explaining the bonanza was only made possible largely because of improved financial condition, largely attributable to added revenues from economic ventures of the province like the CWC and Information Technology Park, as well as a more effective tax collection.
Provincial Capitol employees used to receive only P1,000 year-end additional cash gift, but because Gov. LRay has always taken the welfare of the employees at heart, he gradually increased the amount yearly until reaching P10,000 this year, and may even increase in the coming years should the provincial financial condition allow.
