The National Youth Commission (NYC) is enjoining young Filipinos to turn off their lights on March 23, 8:30 pm in celebration of Earth Hour. “Earth Hour is among the most significant efforts of humans to give back to nature. We may never truly replace what is lost, but we can do something about those that are at risk environmentally,” said Commissioner Erwin Andaya, Chair of NYC’s Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development.
GMA Network replies to Sarah Lahbati's allegations based on her tweets last night, January 9, 2013.
Sarah mentioned "It has been three days since Ms Annette Gozon Abrogar uses GMA news to bombard me and make my image look bad." GMA Network categorically denies this. GMA News has fairly aired both Sarah's tweets and the Network's statements thus she cannot accuse anyone of using the Network's News Department to make her image look bad.
GMA Network addresses all issues raised by Sarah Lahbati - starting from her posts in the social networking and microblogging site Twitter, which were eventually picked-up by the press.
The Network maintains its stand that Sarah Lahbati violated her contract, as follows:
- GMA maintains its position that Sarah Lahbati violated her contract with the network.
- The walk-out incident from a taping of Sarah Lahbati is still being investigated. We welcome Sarah's denial that she walked out from that taping and her denial will expedite the action(s) we will take depending on the result of our investigation because there will no longer be any need to ask her to explain.
- We are not going to comment at this time on the other statements of Sarah Lahbati that has no relevance to the violation of her contract with GMA.
"Last December, Sarah Lahbati unilaterally decided to take a leave of absence of one (1) month from GMA Network, because she said she wanted to de-stress and unwind. Because her reasons were vague, they were not accepted by management. While we understand that work in our industry can be stressful (as in any business), we believe that this is not only unavoidable in most cases, but also a part of what one does as a professional and/or performing artist.
