MANILA, Philippines – At least 13 people were killed when a light aircraft crashed into a school within a residential area near the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Parañaque City this afternoon.

The crash sparked a huge fire that razed at least 50 houses in Barangay Don Bosco. More than 20 people were injured.

Gwendolyn Pang, secretary-general of the Philippine Red Cross (PRC), said that eight of the fatalities were children and the other five were passengers of the light aircraft that crashed in an elementary school in Barangay Don Bosco.

VIRAC, Catanduanes (Nov 27, 2011) - They all share lots of common denominators aside  from having almost similar sounding names.  And these parallelisms must be the lucky charms that catapulted them to the top.

Benjie T. Pantino, Benjames T. Go, and Jerwin DL. Rendon made another resounding history for the Catanduanes State Colleges (CSC) when they snared the Top 1-2-3 ranks in the November 2011 Civil Engineer Licensure Examination given by the Professional Regulation Commission.

It all began with a cosmetic junkie, a radical Englishman, a harassed new mom and a baby. Human Nature was the brainchild of Anna Meloto-Wilk, Dylan Wilk and Camille Meloto. All three were Gawad Kalinga volunteers who were exposed early on to the harsh realities of poverty in the Philippines and now burned with the desire to do more for the country.

Pili Mayor Tomas P. Bongalonta Jr. said that the Department of Education (DEP-ED) statistics bared that at least 34% of elementary school children nationwide have head lice, but locally as many as 59% have hair parasites and about 70% have dental problems.

This project will be launched on April 13, 2011 at 10am at Don Manuel Abella Elementary School in Cararayan, Naga City. The objective of the program is to improve the instructions at the elementary level of public schools to facilitate learning in Science, Mathematics, and English.

LtCol Santiago Enginco, Commanding Officer of the 49th Infantry Battalion based in Juban town said that he immediately deployed 5 military vehicles to assist the evacuation at around 10:00am.

LtCol Santiago Enginco, Commanding Officer of the 49th Infantry Battalion based here said that he employed the 35-man Disaster Response Operations Platoon together with another platoon from his unit to clean the affected school facilities.

1st Lieutenant Oliver Dela Cruz, Commanding Officer of the Charlie Company of the 49th Infantry Battalion said that more evacuees from the 4-kilometer permanent danger zone in Sitio Gimaloto (sub-village) in Ingladian village of Casiguran town, trooped to the evacuation center in Escuala village starting at around 5pm yesterday.
