It had just shown support for local tourism and events by operating up to 7x daily flights for last week’s Ad Congress, similar to what it had done during the IronMan last August...

NAGA CITY (Sep 25, 2011) - Typhoon Pedring (International name: NESAT) was spotted 9:00 A.M. today north east of the Bicol region is moving fast at 28 kilometers per hour (kph) west-northwesterly towards the Aurora province.

Pedring is now 235 kilometers Northeast of Virac, Catanduanes with maintained centerwind of 150 kph with gusts up to 185.

It is expected to become a Category 4 Typhoon early Tuesday morning as it approaches the coast of Aurora wiith a centerwind up to 250 kph...

NAGA CITY Philippines  (Aug 1, 2011, 4:00 A.M.) - Luzon is now in between two weather systems - a weakening Super Typhoon Kabayan far in the East and a consolidating weak Tropical Depression (Low Pressure Area or LPA) in the West.

NAGA CITY Philippines  (Aug 1, 2011, 4:00 A.M.) - Luzon is now in between two weather systems - a weakening Super Typhoon Kabayan far in the East and a consolidating weak Tropical Depression (Low Pressure Area or LPA) in the West.

Kabayan (International name: Muifa) has lost its Super Typhoon status but remains a powerful Category 4 Typhoon that is moving slowly North-Northeastward across the North Philippine Sea. Its far distance, however, attenuates its effects in population areas of the country.

At 6:00 P.M. today, the eye of the tropical storm was located 1060 kilometers  East of Virac, Catanduanes at coordinates 13.9º North Latitude 134.0º East Longitude with sustained winds of 95 kph near the center and gusts up to 120 kph.

LEGAZPI City (July 1, 2011) – Rescue teams of the Philippine Navy, using 2 sea vessels and an aircraft, have ended the search for 10 missing fishermen from Ligao City and the towns of Virac and Bato in Catanduanes province.

An official report on Thursday, (June 30) from the Office of the Civil Defence (OCD) Bicol office and the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (RDRRMC) bared that the 10 fishermen lost at sea and will not be searched anymore were identified as:

Rosa Ordan, 54, barangay Basag, of Ligao City;

LEGAZPICITY, (PIA) -- Thousands of government retirees may now withdraw their GSIS pensions at four Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) branches in Bikol, according to the latter’s top regional official here .

Renato Eje, LBP Assistant Vice President and regional branch manager, said that this is good news to pensioners of the GSIS as LBP branches in Masbate City, Virac, Catanduanes, and in the cities of Naga and Ligao will provide banking services to accommodate GSIS pensioners very soon.

Lieutenant Colonel Danilo Aquino, Commander of the 83rd Infantry Battalion where the soldiers belong, said that the soldiers came from a security operation in the capital town of Virac which celebrates the International Human Rights Day today.
