Penetrating the field as underdogs, the Azkals have steadily risen in the international football scene and has advanced the sport’s popularity in the country.

MANILA Philippines (July 29, 2011) - Despite being buoyed up by supportive hometown crowd at the Rizal Memorial Stadium last night, the Philippine Azkals lost to Kuwait Al-Azraq, 1-2, In the second match of the 2nd Round of their World Cup 2014 Asian Qualifying series.

The Philippine Azkals drew first blood when Stephan Schrock nailed a goal from 20 yards, ending the first half up 1-0. But the celebratory mood of the Filipinos would soon fade.

MANILA Philippines (July 3, 2011 6:00 P.M.) - For the first time the Philippine Football team advances to the 2nd round of the World Cup Qualifiers after the Philippine Azkals win by a 4-0 shutout of Sri Lanka Brave Reds this afternoon at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium in Manila.

MANILA Philippines (July 3, 2011 6:00 P.M.) - For the first time the Philippine Football team advances to the 2nd round of the World Cup Qualifiers after the Philippine Azkals win by a 4-0 shutout of Sri Lanka Brave Reds this afternoon at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium in Manila.

With the win, the Azkals advance to face the higher ranked Kuwaiti team on July 23 and 28.

After preliminary ceremonies, the game started at exactly 3:00 P.M. despite the rains that soaked the ground and the players. All the 4 game officials were South Koreans.

President Aquino led the rites and ceremonies to commemorate the 150th birthday of Dr. Jose Rizal right here in the hero's hometown yesterday.

While exulting Rizal's supreme sacrifice that paved the way for the freedom the country enjoys today, the president does not wish any more hero's death for any Filipino fighting for reform.

Naga City (June 8 2011) – City Administrator Florencio Mongoso Jr. said the city government of Naga shall take over the administration of Plaza Rizal on June 18 this year and the Camarines Sur provincial government has not manifested any opposition.

The one-day activity started with a motorcade at 6:30 A.M. from Plaza Rizal in downtown Naga going all the way up to Naga City Sports Complex in Barangay Pacol, at the foot of Mount Isarog, where the sports activities were held.

The bankers enjoyed friendly competitions in basketball, volleyball, track and field and tug-of-war.

In a gesture of goodwill and amiability, Mayor John Bongat who is a lawyer likes to wait it out to allow the provincial capitol to turn over the property amicably. The city councilors are more impatient and has filed a resolution requesting the mayor to file in court a writ of execution for a forced turn-over.

For the second consecutive year, a student from the Ateneo de Naga University ranked first in the Search for the Jose Rizal Model Students of the Philippines (JRMSP) 2010. Monica M. Palomares, AB Development Communications senior student, bested 16 other national winners and finalists in the Search.

For the second consecutive year, a student from the Ateneo de Naga University ranked first in the Search for the Jose Rizal Model Students of the Philippines (JRMSP) 2010. Monica M. Palomares, AB Development Communications senior student, bested 16 other national winners and finalists in the Search.

Palomares is the sixth JRMSP winner ADNU has produced in history. In 2009, Chanelle Allorde, Valedictorian of Class 2010, also topped in the same Search.
