On December 10, 2010, the world dedicated the celebration of human rights day to all “human rights defenders who act to end discrimination.”

It will be remembered that a cornerstone of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) that the United Nations General Assembly adopted and proclaimed on December 10, 1948, is the provision against discrimination.

The Truth Commission should consider the report by Human Rights Watch on the Maguindanao Massacre and the Ampatuans and other warlords, which was released a few days ago. Entitled, “‘They Own the People’: The Ampatuans, State-Backed Militias, and Killings in the Southern Philippines,” the report also implicates former Pres. Macapagal-Arroyo...
