Caceres laity speaks up on RH Bill issue

Naga City (13 March 2011) --- The laity of the Archdiocese of Caceres, in a manifesto signed by leaders of religious organizations, had declared its support for the Church’s call to protect human life. 

The declaration also calls on families to unite and ensure that the family remains as an “autonomous social institution.”

In its statement “Stand up for Life,” lay leaders and their members affirmed their commitment to the Church’s position regarding reproductive health.

AdNU President named Outstanding Filipino awardee

MANILA, Dec. 18, 2010—A Jesuit priest who is the president of the Ateneo de Naga University was cited by the Insular Life Assurance Co., Ltd. and the Philippine Jaycee Senate as one of The Outstanding Filipinos (TOFIL) for 2010. Fr. Joel Tabora, SJ, president of the Ateneo de Naga University was awarded for his dedicated work in uplifting the situation of the poor.

Church failed in helping youth –Bp Baylon

MANILA, Dec. 15, 2010— A catholic prelate has admitted that the youth have been sadly abandoned by institutions, including the Church. CBCP’s Commission on Youth Chair Joel Baylon made the admission as the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines formally launched today 2011 as the “Year of the Youth”.

Corrupting our minors, corrupting the future

Reports coming from all over leave no doubt as to the scope and magnitude of corruption and cheating in the recent Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections. During our Clergy General Assembly held last Tuesday, every priest present said that vote-buying and selling were rampant in their respective places of assignment and home towns. Radyo Veritas Legazpi and other local radio stations, as well as our local PPCRV units also confirmed this widespread terrible state of affairs.

Sorsogon bishop backs CBCP stand vs illegal gambling

MANILA, Sept. 24, 2010-Sorsogon Bishop Arturo Bastes, SVD said he fully supports the campaign of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines against illegal gambling as he pledged to issue another pastoral statement for his diocese reiterating his commitment against the proliferation of the illegal numbers game.
