P 75k Bounty for Local Holdup Gang
NAGA CITY (30 July) - THE POLICE regional office in Camp Simeon Ola, Legazpi City has offered a reward money for informants who can provide information on the safe-houses or exact whereabouts of holdup suspect Ernesto Casano Calleja and his gang members, whose last area of operation is the lake-side highways of Bato, Camarines Sur until Libon, Albay.
Camarines Sur police spokesman, SPO4 Romulo Pabiano, bared that PNP Bicol regional office initiated to raise the bounty-money for any information on the "Calleja robbery holdup gang," after the said crime group had become notorious in armed robberies in the 5th district of Camarines Sur province.
Among the latest of the gang's crime activities was an armed robbery last July 4, wherein employees of the Benchmark Marketing from Naga City identified Calleja as among the suspects who divested them of their cash-collection at Salvacion , Bato, National Road.
Reportedly, Bicol PNP Director Chief Supt. Cecilio Calleja Jr. had ordered an all out manhunt for the Calleja group since the gang resisted arrest during a police chase in April this year along Buluang, Bato.
Over the week, two armed robberies were also reported in Balatan and Calabanga, all in this province.
Last July 28, in barangay Maguiron, Balatan town sari-sari store owners spouses Roberto Boral Borbon, 39, and wife Arlene Ani Borbon, who are also agents of "Smart Money Padala," were robbed at gunpoint by four armed men, whose faces were covered with cloth and plastic bags.
The suspects reportedly armed with 9-MM pistols and an UZI-type machine pistol pushed Roberto Borbon against a coconut tree and shot him several times, instantly killing him.
The suspects took some P 5, 000 in cash and fled towards a forested area of San Francisco, Balatan.
Meanwhile on July 26, at the Sibobo, Calabanga town national road, salesman Dionie Doblon Gallarte and driver of Toyota-Hilux, Alden Buenafe Bombase, all employees of Multiware Sales Corp., were stopped by two armed men and robbed of their cellphones, cash collection worth P70, 000, and packs of Marlboro cigarettes.
