UNEP Welcomes Former Defense Secretary Gibo Teodoro as 62nd Commencement Speaker
It will indeed be a green-lettered day for all the supporters and followers of Former Defense Secretary Gilberto "Gibo" Teodoro comes April 6, 2010. He will be at the University of Northeastern Philippines ' (UNEP) as commencement speaker on its 62nd Graduation exercise.
Atty. Remelisa Alfelor-Moraleda, University President said that this year's graduation committee chose to invite Teodoro as their guest speaker because of his impressive record even as a young lad. "In 1980 he was elected Kabataang Barangay President in his hometown Tarlac and became Central Luzon 's Kabataang Barangay President for five years. These are things that we want our students to emulate - the value of leadership and his love and dedication for public service."
Teodoro, whose running as presidential aspirant this coming 2010 elections, is a bonafide member of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Tarlac from 1980 to 1986. He took his college degree at the De La Salle University in 1984 and graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Commerce Major in Financial Institutions.
He received the Dean's Medal for Academic Excellence in 1989 after finishing his law degree at the University of the Philippines . On the same year, he topped the Philippine Bar exams. Eight years after, he passed the New York State Bar Examinations.
Under the theme "Education changing lives," more than 400 graduating students, armed with their diplomas and academic learning, will have to face the challenge that awaits them in the real world once they step out of the university.
"I am confident that our students will bravely face the arena of finding their respective places in the society. UNEP has laid down a comprehensive training ground for them and we are assured and convinced that they will emerge victorious in their chosen careers," Moraleda added.
Graduating on top of the 2010 class as Magna Cum Laude are Jeanette Salon and Jasmin Ibanita. Both took the degree of Masters in Education, Major in Administration and Supervision.
Sheena Mariz Hinlo (BS Accountancy) will also receive the 2010 Service Award, Outstanding Journalist Of the Year and Outstanding in Office Practicum award. Excellence in Student Teaching Award will be given to Vista, Anthony, Galvante, Dahlia and Rosalinas, Lilian (Bachelor of Elementary Education) and Jesoro, Jecer (Bachelor of Secondary Education) and Excellence in Clinical Teaching to be received by Romualdo Bismonte, Michelle Mendoza, Melody Arriane Colarina, Ana Lizza Brina and Mary Jane Cortez (BS Nursing).
Outstanding in Field Practicum: Bridgette Peyra (Bachelor of Science in Social Work); Outstanding in Public Safety Internship: Namoro, Michael (Bachelor of Science in Criminology) and Athlete of the Year, Jake Dumaya (Bachelor of Science in Criminology).
Outstanding Office Practicum awardees include Janice Dacleson, Ma.Chit Ibarondo, Ramonchito Paniterce, Charmaine Martinez, Rose Anne Roman, Rommel Masangcay, Joy Domaiwat, Adelaida Monte, Marilou Monte, Donnalyn Salve Andalis, Linda Ciron, Catherine Sahagun. Grachelle Sirios, and Jonel Tayer.
