Daet Solon Scored for Blocking Governor's Infra Projects
DAET, CAMARINES NORTE (13 March 2010) - THE GOVERNOR of this province has denounced the interference of Camarines Norte lone Congresswoman, Liwayway Vinzons Chato in the affairs of the provincial government, particularly in the proposed P 300-Million loan with the Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) to finance the establishment of a provincial "garbage recovery facility" that will service 12 towns; a centralized evacuation center; and tourism-infrastructures at Bagasbas beach.
Camarines Norte Gov. Jesus "Atoy" Typoco claimed that recently Congresswoman Chato had filed a TRO on the first phase implementation of the garbage recovery facility at Masalong, Labo town, after an initial P 120-Million loan was released by the LBP Central Office to the provincial government.
Typoco said a second release worth P 180-Million will also be granted by LBP but implementation of the fund has already been affected by the election ban on infrastructure projects.
According to the Governor, since the application of the loan the Congresswoman had been writing the Land Bank not to grant the provincial government the said loan for reasons that the funds will be used allegedly for the 2010 local elections.
Typoco stressed that the release of the P 120-Million is vital for the establishment of the garbage recovery facility, which is now required under an environmental law, to close all open dump-site operated by the local government and avoid paying corresponding penalties.
Reportedly, the Congresswoman had vouched to her Daet town supporters under the Liberal Party, that a similar P 30-Million "garbage recovery" site will also be established in Barangay Lagon, Daet.
According to Typoco, Chato had offered her congressional fund as guarantee for the P30-Million which would also be acquired through a loan. (SONNY SALES).
