Man killed for accidentally blocking view of videoke screen

Drunken policeman, 7 pals slapped murder and frustrated murder charges

NAGA CITY (Nov. 10, 2011) – For simply accidentally blocking the videoke screen from view of the singers, a 29 year-old male victim was shot to death and his girlfriend sustained a gunshot wound in the leg in a brawl that ensued.

Eight suspects including a member of the Camarines Sur Police Public Safety Company (CSPPSC) were charged with murder and frustrated murder before the City Prosecutor’s Office here on Tuesday (Nov 8) for the killing of Anthony Aragdon Solomon, 29, and wounding of his girlfriend, Rochelle Navales Saliente, 22, during a brawl at Gwenbay Videoke Bar at P. Diaz St., Sta. Cruz in this city in the early morning of Nov. 5.

Naga City Police Office director, Sr. Supt. Antonio Nilayan Gardiola Jr. identified the suspects as: PO2 Ricardo Ante Fullante, 33 of the 4th Manuvering Platoon of the (CSPPSC) ; Dante Canin Ante Jr., 22, resident of Polangui, Albay; Roger Ante Sabolarse, 28; Jeffrey Ante Sabolarse, 21; Charlie Marcaida Pasadilla, 22; German Ante Sabolarse, 24, all residents of Urban Poor, Bayawas St. Barangay Abella; and Melvin Ante Fullante, 37, of Zone 6, Calauag in this City.

Gardiola said the killing Solomon and wounding of his girl friend is a “wake up call” to concerned city agencies to be more strict in granting business permits to videoke bars and drinking pubs in this city.

According to Gardiola, drinking spots that do not post security personnel and are remiss on checking clients bearing firearms and bladed weapons should not be allowed to operate.

Mayor John Bongat promptly ordered a general inspection team from the City Hall, consisting of the city’s service agencies and the Public Safety Office (PSO) to check on the security measures being implemented in bars and pubs in this city.

Gardiola said that in view of the increasing cases of brawls in drinking pubs, he submitted to the city government a position paper that would deny business permit to drinking spots that cannot secure their customers.

Naga City Police Station 1 head Police Supt. Vicente Costales Marpuri said that based on their investigation, PO2 Fullante made a practice shooting target out of  Solomon as he fired 6 shots using his 9-mm sevice pistol in a fit of drunkeness.

Solomon sustained fatal wounds on the head, nape and lower parts of his body. His girl friend Rochelle was shot in the right leg.

Recovered at the crime scene were 7 empty shells, 2 deformed slugs from a 9-mm pistol and a blood-stained fan knife.

According to Marpuri, a brawl started when the victim merely accidentally blocked the videoke screen from view of  SPO2 Fullante and company who were singing at that time. (SONNY SALES)
