It has been undeniably a banner first year for leading Philippine news channel GMA News TV: taking hold of the number one spot in the ratings game and winning numerous awards – highlighted with five News TV documentaries achieving Finalist status in this year’s New York Festivals – all within its first year of broadcast. And as it commemorates its first anniversary this month, GMA News TV presents three anniversary specials featuring timely topics presented by some of the Network’s biggest names.
First up is SA SALN...TAPAT DAPAT!, a special that probes deep into the subject of honesty, integrity, and transparency in Philippine government.
GMA News TV's primary offering on its first anniversary will assess the compliance of local and national officials against these three values that they vow to uphold via their Statements of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth.
SA SALN...TAPAT DAPAT! will scrutinize how Department Secretaries, officials and employees of the House of Representatives, the Senate and Malacanang as well as men and women in uniform comply with this requirement. The special will also reveal the startling list of who are the poorest and richest in government service, and will assess how truthful these claims may be.
The special report is hosted by GMA News TV anchor Mike Enriquez and host Malou Mangahas – with correspondent Joseph Morong – and airs March 18, Sunday, at 8:40 pm.
And on March 31, GMA News TV will take its viewers to a memorable summer trip around the country via TRAVEL: IT’S MORE FUN IN THE PHILIPPINES!, the second instalment of the three-part anniversary special. Susan Enriquez and Cesar Apolinario will visit the country's most popular tourist spot and experience Boracay for every man! Kara David, in turn, will don her scuba gear and takes an underwater tour of Palawan's world class coral reefs. She will also visit one of this generation's seven wonders, the Underground River in Puerto Princesa.
Summer is also a time for bonding. Join Raffy Tima and Mariz Umali as they take a trip up north to celebrate the annual Panagbenga Festival and visit Raffy's hometown in Kalinga. Lastly, Survivor castaways Maey and Betong will travel to other undiscovered destinations where exotic creatures abound.
With more than one thousand, one hundred island destinations, there's no doubt that Travel is truly more fun in the Philippines! It airs March 31, Saturday, 9.45 pm.
And with the love for travel comes the Filipinos’ love for food! Recipes are handed down from generation to generation and no celebration is complete without a serving of lola’s, tita’s, mommy’s, or even great grand lola’s signature dish.
So for its third anniversary special, GMA News TV invites its viewers to a buffet of nothing but the best food that the country has to offer. The most sumptuous meals presented with a dash of creativity in EATS, TRULY MORE FUN IN THE PHILIPPINES!
Various signature dishes of the regions and the most mouthwatering sea food buffet, freshly gathered and prepared by one of the most respected chefs in the country today, Chef Boy Logro, await viewers in this much anticipated special. Truly a meal worth waiting for!
EATS, TRULY MORE FUN IN THE PHILIPPINES! airs April 15, Sunday, 8.40 p.m. still on GMA News TV. (GMA Network)
