NAGA CITY, May 26 (PNA) -- Some 375 day care workers from the different towns in Camarines Sur attended last week the two-day Seminar-Workshop on Classroom Management in Day Care Centers and Orientation on the News Standards for Center-Based (ECCD) programs sponsored by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) at the Regent Hotel in here.

Lake Bato fishkill damage reaches P12 million

PILI CAMARINES SUR (27 May)-- ABOUT A HUNDRED fish-cage operators in nine barangays surrounding Lake Bato in this province is being planned for a rehab-assistance by the regional office of the Bureau of Fisheries And Aquatic Resources (BFAR) base here, after the said operators sustained big losses reaching P 11.714 million as a result of a "fish-kill" incident that affected more than 4,000 fish-cages and the loss of some 151,500 Tilapia-fish stocks.

NAGA CITY (28 May)-- A TRAFFIC EXPERIMENTATION being implemented by the Robredo Administration's Public Safety Office (PSO) along Panganiban Drive, a major thoroughfare that led to the old Naga commercial district, has now become a major concern to many affected business establishments, whose owners are saying the "experimental traffic scheme" will only favor the newly opened "SM City Naga" once ratified as an ordinance.

The merits of Brigada Eskwela, the just  concluded annual program of activities implemented by the Department of Education and is spearheaded by parent-volunteers, need to be extolled if only to draw more people in supporting it.

Contemplating Catholicity

AFTER ALL THESE YEARS of being a Catholic, I was moved again to reflect on my allegiance to this faith after seeing the live-action version of Dan Brown's another controversial novel, Angels and Demons. No, it did not make me question or doubt my religion. But it led me to evaluate how this Church-and I, as its member-makes way in this contemporary world. I admit that Angels and Demons is not a very powerful story (albeit better than The Da Vinci Code); but I also believe that its job of mixing facts and fictive elements were done superbly. It possesses in itself many of the qualities of fiction, and among these is the capacity to lead readers to reflection.

Day off

WORKING PEOPLE usually look forward to a day off in which they would be away from the regular working schedule and be able to find time to rest and to have a respite from the more difficult and demanding tasks of daily life.
