"Ako Bicol" to vie in 2010 party list elections

NAGA CITY, June 3 (PNA) --- A regional political party known as Ako Bicol is vying in the forthcoming party-list elections in May 2010. Ako Bicol officials were even optimistic that Bicolano voters would support and vote for the homegrown political group. Arthur Monares, president of Ako Bicol, said the group would primarily focus on laws that improve the livelihood, education and health of Bicolanos and non-Bicolanos alike.

MANILA, June 5, 2009- Catholic bishops are calling on the people to go to the streets to denounce Charter change via constituent assembly (Con-ass). Manila Auxiliary Bishop Broderick Pabillo said the people should air their sentiments against the planned mode for Constitutional amendments before it's too late.

DENR hit again for alleged "ghost" reforestation project

NAGA CITY-Eleven residents of the villages of Lupi and Cawaynan in Tinambac,Camarines Sur said they were ready to speak against the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, which they said lied when it reported in February this year that a 150-hectare reforestation project area in their village already had been fully planted with trees. They said it was not true that the first phase of implementation of the reforestation project of DENR in their village already had been completed.

Naga has country's first university with institutional accreditation

NAGA CITY—The only Jesuit learning institution in Bikol region is also the first among all other schools and universities in the country to have institutional accreditation from Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU). Ateneo de Naga University (AdNU) beat all the major Manila-based universities to the accreditation.
