San Pascual, Burias Island, Masbate (28 May) -- President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo inaugurated Thursday (May 27) a new strategically-located RoRo (roll-on-roll-off) port here during her visit to this town. The P46.3 million RoRo port here, conceptualized as a "bridge between Luzon and the Visayas," was completed last year but blessing and inauguration was held when the President set foot in this remote town for the first time yesterday.

Naga City -- Former NBI Director and human rights lawyer Jesus Antonio Carpio died last May 26 of Parkinson's Disease. He was 78. Carpio served as Director of the National Bureau of Investigation or NBI from 1986-1989 after being appointed by then President Corazon Aquino.

Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino to immediately order a full investigation on Ako Bicol party list (AKB) and the corporations connected to it such as Sunwest Construction and Development Corporation and Hi-Tone Construction and Development Corporation once he gets into Malacañang.

MANILA, May, 20, 2010-Expressing concern on the poll body's slowdown in the counting of votes, the National Citizens Movement for Free Elections (Namfrel) has urged the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to speed up and complete the count as soon as possible.

MANILA, May 19, 2010-A Catholic Church-backed poll watchdog said the Philippines' first full automated election was done squarely, despite some "discrepancies" in the results. The Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) said they found some 29 discrepancies so far between the electronically transmitted data and the election returns ERs.

MANILA, May 20, 2010-Outspoken Archbishop Oscar Cruz said he has witnesses to prove that results of the May 10 national elections were manipulated. Cruz said a former commissioner of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) already told him before that poll fraud plotters are out to rig the country first automated polls. That official, he said, gave him a list of areas where the alleged cheating will be operated for his "reference".
