MANILA, Oct 26 -- Malacanang on Sunday welcomed the recent statement of the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction praising the Philippine government for its timely response which mitigated the impact of Typhoon Lando (international name: Koppu).

Love blooms in Dangwa on Monday

Love, they say, blooms in the most unexpected places. The hashtag #DangwaGirl went viral recently as university belt students posted about a mysterious girl giving roses away on the streets of Manila. The lovely flower girl was revealed on GMA’s 24 Oras newscast as Janine Gutierrez – who found a unique way to promote her upcoming series.  Janine spent a day giving out red roses to strangers she met along the way, similar to her role in the Network’s upcoming series entitled Dangwa.  The recipients - particularly the young men - were thrilled and quickly posted their encounters on social media.

'Lando' rains cause PHP14.5-M fishkill in Lake Buhi

BUHI, Camarines Sur, Oct. 22 (PNA) -- The rains dumped by Typhoon "Lando" resulted in the upswelling at the bottom of Lake Buhi, causing a fishkill that involved PHP14.5 million worth of cultured tilapia in fish cages, according to the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) in Bicol.

100-man Team Albay humanitarian mission rolls off Thursday night for Casiguran, Aurora

LEGAZPI CITY, Oct. 22 (PNA) -- Well-wishing Albayanos will send off the 100-man Team Albay humanitarian mission at the Albay Public Safety and Emergency Management Office (APSEMO) Operation Center at 6 p.m. Wednesday. The humanitarian mission, Team Albay's 14th, is bound for Casiguran, Aurora which suffered much from the wrath of Typhoon "Lando".
