MANILA, Philippines (Oct 19, 2012) - In apparent change of heart after he signed the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, which provides for online libel with higher penalties, President Aquino says he is in favor of decriminalizing libel .
Aquino, speaking at the Annual Presidential Forum of the Foreign Correspondents Association of the Philippines yesterday, said he did not intend to curtail freedom of expression when he signed the law, adding the provision on libel was not an initiative of the executive branch.

We view with vigilant optimism the announcement of a coming peace agreement between the government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) as the first steps towards forging “a just and lasting peace in Mindanao.” We believe that continuing consultations with all stakeholders are necessary to bring the peace process forward.
Labor Arbiter Gaudencio P. Demaisip, Jr., of the National Labor Relations Commission favored GMA Network, Inc. (GMA) and GMA Chairman and CEO Felipe L. Gozon in a labor case filed by Joselito M. Dela Cruz and Edgardo S. Enriquez, who are former casual employees of the company.
In his Decision dated September 12, 2012, the labor arbiter dismissed the complaint of Dela Cruz and Enriquez for illegal dismissal and regularization.
