Camarines Sur (June 13 2011) – A local radio broadcaster was killed by unknown perpetrators early this morning causing fear that press freedom is under assault here.

Romeo Olea, a radio reporter-announcer of DWEB-FM based in Nabua town, was declared dead on arrival at the Rinconada Medical Center because of gunshot wounds to the body.

Naga City (June 13 2011) – The Philippine National Police (PNP) Regional Office has promptly created a task force that shall investigate the killing of Romeo Olea, the radio reporter-announcer who was shot dead this morning in Nabua town.

Naga City (June 13 2011) – The Philippine National Police (PNP) Regional Office has promptly created a task force that shall investigate the killing of Romeo Olea, the radio reporter-announcer who was shot dead this morning in Nabua town.

PNP Regional Director Cecilio Calleja Jr. has ordered Senior Superintendent Victor Deona to head Task Force Olea, which shall focus on the investigation of the mediaman ‘s killing.

Olea was the second media man killed after the May 2010 elections.

MANILA, Philippines (June 14 2011) - Malacañang condemned yesterday the "senseless" killing of a newsman in Camarines Sur.

Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Herminio Coloma asked the police to immediately resolve the ambush of Romeo Olea, a radio commentator of DWEB-FM in Nabua, Camarines Sur.

"We deplore the senseless killing of radio commentator Romeo Olea who was fatally gunned down this morning by still unidentified persons in front of the Holy Child Learning Center in San Jose, Iriga City," said Coloma.
