MANILA, Philippines (Dec 17, 2011) – Tropical storm Sendong (Internatinal name: Washi) leaves almost 200 deads and hundreds missing in Northern Mindanao.

Sendong now moves over Sulu towards Palawan.after it battered the cities of Cagayan de Oro and Iligan and other Mindanao provinces with strong winds and heavy rains that caused deadly floods and landslides.

Sendong now moves over Sulu towards Palawan.after it battered the cities of Cagayan de Oro and Iligan and other Mindanao provinces with strong winds and heavy rains that caused deadly floods and landslides.

The Philippine Army's 4th Infantry Battalion, which was leading the search and rescue operations in Cagayan de Oro City, said that they have recovered a total of 117 bodies as of 4 p.m.

NAGA CITY (9:00 AM, Dec 17, 2011) - Maintaining its strength, Tropical Storm Sendong (International name: Washi) now heads for Sulu Sea after passing close to the twin cities of Dipolog and Dapitan and now threatens southern Palawan where it is expected to traverse early Sunday morning.

Sendong still packs a centerwind of 85 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness up to 100 kph, which is expected to still intensify as it travels over Sulu Sea at 31 kph in West Northwest direction.

NAGA CITY Philippines  (Aug 1, 2011, 4:00 A.M.) - Luzon is now in between two weather systems - a weakening Super Typhoon Kabayan far in the East and a consolidating weak Tropical Depression (Low Pressure Area or LPA) in the West.

Kabayan (International name: Muifa) has lost its Super Typhoon status but remains a powerful Category 4 Typhoon that is moving slowly North-Northeastward across the North Philippine Sea. Its far distance, however, attenuates its effects in population areas of the country.

LPA  tagged Tropical Disturbance 98W  is way off  Batanes islands but still brings rains and thunderstorms.

The Low Pressure Area (LPA) tagged Tropical Disturbance 98W remains weak as it moves north across the North Philippine Sea, located about 575 km North Northeast of Batanes at coordiantes 24.8 North Latitude 125.1 East Longitude. This system has a low chance of becoming a Tropical Cyclone within the next 24 hours. But it will continue to pull the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) Rains across Mindoro, Marinduque, Bicol, Palawan, Calamian Group, Romblon, Visayas and Western Luzon including Metro Manila and Southern Tagalog Provinces.

Naga City Philippines (June 23, 2011 8:00 A.M.) - A large Tropical Storm, Falcon covers a wide area 740 kilometer in diameter. So while Luzon provinces are considered to be out of harms's way of a direct hit, the storm can come with heavy rains that cause damaging floods in low lying areas.

It's outer rainbands affect the Bicol Region and Eastern Visayas where moderate to strong winds (30-61 kph) are expected. Total 24-hour rainfall accumulation can reach as high as 380 mm along Falcon's western circulation near Catanduanes.

18 November -- Like missing teeth, the conspicuous gaps of treeless patches along the stretch of the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) is what  a unique tree planting project  wants to fill in  with aesthetically pleasing trees like  Golden Shower (Cassia fistula), Palawan Cherry (Prunus javanica),  Balitbitan (Cynometra ramiflora)  and Caballero (Caesalpinia pulcherrima).
