MANILA, Dec. 2, 2011— An official of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines is seeking a resolution of cases related to the coco-levy fund scam, as he called on President Benigno Aquino III to intervene on the issue.

Manila Auxiliary Bishop Broderick Pabillo said Aquino should show “political will” to return billions of pesos in coconut levy funds allegedly stolen from coconut farmers decades back.

In his second State of the Nation Address, President Benigno Aquino III has made the banning of car sirens called wang-wang as a symbolism of how his government has supposedly put a stop to the abuse of power and corruption. MANILA, Philippines (May 7, 2011) - A Department of Budget and Management (DBM) report reveals that in 2009 President Benigno Aquino III, then a senator, and seven others saved the government P1.6 billion by not availing of their yearly pork barrel allocation amounting to P200-million each.

LEGAZPI CITY, Jan. 13 2011  - President Benigno Aquino III is set to arrive here on Friday to personally assess the damages wrought by floods and landslides caused by heavy rains that hit several towns of the province including this city, Albay Governor Joey Salceda said Thursday.

Salceda said preparations are in place for the arrival of President Aquino, who will be briefed by local and national disaster authorities concerning the current disaster situation, relief operation, the extent of damages and the proposed disaster rehabilitation plan.
