Leading broadcast company GMA Network, Inc. (GMA) showed strong momentum in the first half of 2011 as it improved regular advertising revenues and nationwide ratings

Quezon City , Philippines (August 2, 2011) – – Leading broadcast company GMA Network, Inc. (GMA) showed strong momentum in the first half of 2011 as it improved regular advertising revenues and nationwide ratings – the industry players’ two most important performance indicators – quarter-on-quarter.

Given GMA’s sustained nationwide dominance since the start of the year, GMA posted a 14 percent increase worth P449 million in consolidated revenues to P3.587 billion in the second quarter from the previous quarter’s P3.138 billion.

Kabayan (International name: Muifa) has lost its Super Typhoon status but remains a powerful Category 4 Typhoon that is moving slowly North-Northeastward across the North Philippine Sea. Its far distance, however, attenuates its effects in population areas of the country.

For the fifth year, millions across the globe last March 26 have turned off their lights for 60 minutes starting at 8:30 PM to join Earth Hour 2011. Known landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Sydney Opera House in Australia, the Christ the Redeemer statue at Rio de Janeiro, the Empire State Building in New York went dark to highlight the fight against climate change's adverse effects.

In one case, someone is still listed as living in Nagasaki Prefecture even though if he were alive he would be 200 years old!
