Legazpi City (20 October) -- The investment of the Provincial Government of Albay for this year's education sector has reached P67.4 million, the highest budgetary allocation of the provincial government next to health, which it has properly divided among different projects.
Albay Governor Joey Salceda's thrust in education is to ensure that there is a college graduate in every family and to give recognition to outstanding teachers, principals, and students as well as providing cash incentives to local government units implementing new innovation in education projects.
LEGAZPI CITY, Sept. 20 -- Bikol Region's annual inflation rate slipped further in August, chipping off 0.1 percentage point from the level recorded in the previous month.
The year-on-year change was placed at 3.8 percent, 0.2 percentage point lower than the national average. The rate, however, is much faster than the 1.6 percent inflation rate registered the same period of 2009.
Among the regions of the country, inflation in ARMM was highest at 6.0 percent while Regions I (Ilocos) and VIII (Eastern Visayas) recorded the lowest at 2.5 percent.

LEGAZPI CITY, June 17 -- Bicol Regional Development Council (RDC) chairman and Albay Governor Joey S. Salceda assailed the decision to raise the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) toll fees which, he said, is tantamount to curtailment of trade and freedom to travel.
"Being a regular user of the SLEX, the 250% toll hike cannot be justified by the physical improvements we feel or likely to see, a far cry, compared to the dramatic changes in NLEX (North Luzon Expressway)," Salceda said.
LEGAZPI CITY, June 2 - Prices of agricultural products especially vegetables in Bikol region have remained stable despite the El Niño, according to the Bureau of Agriculture and Statistics (BAS).
"Farmers in the region were able to cope with the effect of El Niño and the supplies of vegetables have been sustained since January this year," Cathy Subido, BAS chief said.
