  • LUPI, Camarines Sur, Feb. 16 -- Some 31 residents of Barangay Colacling here benefited from the multi-livestock production training and dispersal program of the Program Management Office (PMO) of the Bicol River Basin and Watershed Management Project (BRBWMP) recently.

    Assistant Secretary Tomasito B. Monzon, BRBWMP program director and concurrently the presidential Assistant for Bicol, said that initially some 83 heads of piglets, goats and chicken were distributed to poor villagers in partnership with the Barangay Council of Colacling led by its chairwoman, Josephine Fandino.

  • NAGA CITY (Nov. 10)  - Five policemen from this city were recently conferred the "Gantimpala Agad Award" by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) for honesty, expeditious and responsive resolutions of two different robbery with arson cases in this city.

    Awarded were: SPO1 Edgardo Sto. Domingo; SPO1 Norberto R. Genova Jr.; SPO1 Christopher Z. Pastoral; PO3 Rodel B. Llamado and PO3 Ariel V. Bongalbal, all of Police Community Precinct No. 2 of the Naga City Police Office (NCPO).

  • DAET, Camarines Norte, Aug. 14-- The municipal government of Daet sponsored a two-day Disaster Preparedness Seminar at the Daet Kalinangan Center over the weekend in support and to mark the celebration of the National Disaster Consciousness Month.

    The disaster readiness training was attended by 67 participants from Daet's villages and representatives from other sectors. It was facilitated by officials of the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Bicol.

  • NAGA CITY,June 30 (PNA) -- The construction of the P1.3 billion skyway bridge project that will connect the 2nd District town of Canaman and Libmanan municipality in the 1st District of Camarines Sur is scheduled to start in October this year, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said Tuesday.

    District Engineer Gilbert Olfindo of the DPWH Camarines Sur 1st Engineering District Office said the opening of bids for the project is set on August 23, 2009 at the DPWH central office in Manila.

  • LUPI, Camarines Sur, June 11  -- The P1.9-billion Libmanan-Cabusao Dam Project (LCDP) under the Bicol River Basin and Watershed Management Project (BRBWMP) is currently underway as engineers and construction workers of A.M. Oreta Co. Inc. have started working on it since May 24, 2009.

  • NAGA CITY, June 3 (PNA) --- A regional political party known as Ako Bicol is vying in the forthcoming party-list elections in May 2010.

    Ako Bicol officials were even optimistic that Bicolano voters would support and vote for the homegrown political group.

    Arthur Monares, president of Ako Bicol, said the group would primarily focus on laws that improve the livelihood, education and health of Bicolanos and non-Bicolanos alike.

    Monares said that Ako Bicol was counting on the votes of the more than 2.5 million registered Bicolano voters.
