UNEP Fetes New Lawyers

Sunday, July 25th, 2010

In an austere yet momentous occasion, the University of Northeastern Philippines (UNEP) welcomed its new lawyers in a simple but sumptuous banquet.  The activity, which was held over the weekend, was spearheaded by the UNEP College of Law, under the headship of its Acting Dean and concurrently UNEP's President, Atty. Remelisa Alfelor-Moraleda.

After the thanksgiving mass held at the university chapel, the participants, including the honorees, joined the motorcade around the main thoroughfares of Iriga City. It was followed by a testimonial luncheon, which was held at the UNEP law library.

Atty. Jose Eusebio Alvina, President of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) - Camarines Sur Chapter was the event's invited guest speaker.  In his speech delivered before the university's top officials, faculty members and alumni, he expressed his congratulations to the new bar passers.

Alvina also shared some of his personal insights to all the aspiring lawyers and to all the newly elected Law council officers, who were also inducted on the same day.

"One of the most important things that an aspiring lawyer should possess is perseverance.  No matter how difficult your study is, especially your schedule, no matter how many books you have to read, you need to do it."

Bar passers and now joining the line of calibre lawyers in the region are Atty. Roberto C. Andalis, Jr, a native of Buhi and Atty. Kim Caesar P. Dela Fuente, who hails from the town of Goa , Camarines Sur. Both are products of the UNEP College of Law.

Atty. Moraleda also gave a piece of advice to those who are aspiring to join the rooster of legal representatives:  "First, you really have to study hard, and you must also read a lot for I believe that your own success will be measured by your own diligence. The road is not that easy, but if you will persistently aim for what you want, there's no way that you cannot get it."

Moraleda also pointed out the university's mission and vision of providing the community with law-abiding and trustworthy leaders.  "The college of law advocates the philosophy of bringing law education to learners without distinction. We want to educate students and expose them to the intricacies of the majesty of law as their guiding tools to become successful defenders of justice in the future."
