IRIGA CITY (7 April) - THE Administration party's presidential standard bearer Gilbert "Gibo" Teodoro campaigned in the two strongest districts of Lakas-KAMPI-CMD in Camarines Sur province on Tuesday (April 6), after sorties in Albay province a day earlier.

Lakas gubernatorial bet Felix "Nancing" Alfelor Jr. said, "Lakas-KAMPI leaders in four districts of the province have vowed to support Teodoro despite controversies among national party leaders, and rumored withdrawal of support by the Arroyos' on Teodoro's presidential bid."

He claimed, "that in Camarines Sur we are unaffected by the controversies in the party leadership, Lakas-Congressional bets in Cam. Sur former DBM Sec. Rolando Andaya Jr., presidential son, 2nd District Congressman Dato Arroyo, and former LRT executive Teddy Cruz, Lakas bet in the 4th district, have all vouched their support for Teodoro."

With the province previously under the Administration party and now divided among the Nacionalista Party (NP) and the Liberal Party (LP), Lakas still maintains significant leaders in the newly re-apportioned five districts of the province, Alfelor claimed.

Earlier with a reportedly huge NP following in the province, incumbent Gov. L-RAY Villafuerte had belittled the remaining LAKAS political machinery in the province after his father, Luis R. Villafuerte who is former KAMPI national president, had bolted to the NPC.

The younger Villafuerte had left LAKAS for the Nacionalista Party convincing other incumbent mayors.

But former Iriga City Mayor Emmanuel "Manny" Alfelor bared that the significant support of Dato Arroyo and former DBM Sec. Andaya are considered winning factors for LAKAS in Cam. Sur despite the withdrawal of the Villafuertes.

He added that the Alfelors also retained the loyalty of the local leaders of their father, the late Gov. Felix Alfelor Sr., who was governor of the province during the early Marcos years.

Meanwhile, Teodoro's sorties reached Sipocot and Libmanan, Dato's adopted home-town; a motorcade in Naga City and a Lakas grand rally at the Iriga City Coliseum were also held.

Teodoro also was the invited graduation speaker during the 62nd Commencement Exercises of the University of North Eastern Philippines (UNEP) in this city, wherein he addressed more than a thousand graduates, parents and faculty of the University. (SONNY SALES)
