Speaking on behalf of the awardees, GMA News and Public Affairs' Senior Vice President Marissa Flores thanks OFW Gawad Parangal for the recognition: "Our hosts wish to honor the OFWs' tireless sacrifice and noble contribution by giving voice to their truth."

The OFW Gawad Parangal was conferred by KAKAMPPI (Kapisanan ng mga Kamag-anak ng mga Migranteng Manggagawang Pilipino Inc.), a community-based organization of families of overseas Filipino workers (OFW) and migrant returnees.

According to KAKAMPPI Chairperson Ma. Fe P. Nicodemus, OFW Gawad Parangal is their “way of thanking individuals, groups and organizations who unselfishly share their time, skills and resources for OFWs in need.” She adds that KAKAMMPI hopes to contribute its efforts at creating and nurturing a culture of care and concern for our modern-day heroes whose remittances have, for the longest time, kept our economy afloat.
