NAGA City (July 2, 2011) — Crime surge has been noted during the week in the towns of Ragay, Calabanga and the boundary town of Del gallego in Camarines Sur province.

The provincial police office here reported on Tuesday (June 28) that employees of Card Bank Calabanga Branch, Annavic Seprioto Buquid, 25, account officer of the said bank and two others, Anastacia Bodollo Nosil, 38 and Gina Beralde Azuela, 39, both residents of Sogod,Calabanga were robbed at gun-point by two men riding in tandem in Sta Cruz poblacion of this town, carting some 21,475 pesos of bank collections.

The suspects were described as wearing black jacket and helmets and armed with handguns. But reportedly one of the suspects was identified by witnesses as Marvin Escaro Perino a police character whose photo already appears in the rouge gallery of the municipal police station.

In Del Gallego Camarines Sur, the local police also reported Tuesday that thieves broke into a computer building of the Sinuknipan High School by destroying a steel grill window in the toilet that leads to the computer room and took away 11 units of newly acquired 17-inch ACER-LCD monitors and 1 Sanyo DVD player.

Also in Banga Caves, the grocery of Alvin Cruzat Clemente, 28, was also robbed by thieves who first destroyed the steel sliding-door of the store then took away the cash counter and the 80,000 pesos in it.

In upper Sta. Cruz, Ragay, Domingo Morales Tapel, 25 and Mel Erisaen Francisco, 24, both credit collectors of the Agriculture and Rural Development of Catanduanes Inc. (ARDI) micro-financing firm were stopped at gun-point while riding a motorcycle and robbed of about 38,000 pesos in cash collections including cellphones to the armed robbers.

In an alarming development, reports of thefts of metal parts of rail support system has started coming in at the time when the Philippine National Railways (PNR) has revived the Manila-Naga route of the Bicol Express.

In Ragay town, unidentified operatives stole 500 pieces of rail fastening clips, clamps and concrete ties on a 200-meter stretch of railtrack in Banga Caves in this town.

Rolando Robles Feliciano, 55, Philippine National Railways (PNR) supervisor at Ragay reported to the police that robbers used spikes and sledge hammers to extract steel rail supports and fasteners, which are commonly sold to metal buyers at a good price.(SONNY SALES)
