While GMA Network, Inc. (GMA) strongly supports the enactment of the proposed freedom of information (FOI) law, it has expressed its opposition to the inclusion of a right of reply provision in the FOI bill now pending before Congress.

In a letter addressed to Eastern Samar Representative and Chairman of the House Committee on Public Information Ben P. Evardone, GMA Vice President for Legal Affairs Ma. Luz P. Delfin stated that to force media to devote mileage - whether it be on print, on air, or online - to anyone who demands an opportunity to reply, under pain of sanctions, would curtail journalistic freedom and undermine editorial prerogative.

Everything Pinoy on this Saturday’s episode of GMA-7’s Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho and first up is the “bahagsketball” players of Mountain Province! The Philippines is indeed a basketball country. But during the recently-concluded Ayyoweng di Lambak ed Tadian Festival, what can be considered as an all-American sport, got a native twist as Igorots donned traditional loin cloths or “bahag” while playing basketball. Women also had their share of fun as they wore the conventional “tapis” during a game of volleyball.

MANILA, Philippines (Mar 16 2012) - That the country is teetering towards one-man rule in the form of President Aquino dictatorship might have existed only in the mind of impeached Chief Justice Corona and not borne out by realities on the ground.

President Benigno S. Aquino III’s much-vaunted anti-corruption program barely scratches the surface of the problem and gives no hint on how he will grapple with its systemic roots. Failing to address or worse abetting the fundamental roots that sustain corruption makes his administration’s anti-corruption drive superficial if not a complete sham.

The release of her very own album was a reality waiting to happen for Kapuso pop superstar and internet musical sensation Julie Anne San Jose.

After building a credible reputation as a child singer trained by some of the country’s best mentors, Julie Anne emerged from the crowd quite distinctly by virtue of sheer talent. Her success on the internet, with a single Youtube music video of hers registering close to 14 million hits already (a cover of Nicki Minaj’s “Super Bass”), makes her evidently the local artist to watch out for. Julie Anne is definitely someone who showcases what it takes to be pitted against the best of international talents.
