NAGA CITY Philippines (July 26 2011) - The Camarines Sur Provincial Board has passed a resolution urging the Armed Forces of the Philippines leadership to conduct investigation of erring military personnel who are involved in criminal activities.
Board Member Rudito Espiritu, chairman of the peace and order committee of the Provincial Board said the involvement of the two military soldiers in the robbery hold-up case in Naga City and their arrest due to possession of illegal drugs is an alarming development that the AFP - Bicol must start to investigate.
The resolution titled “Resolution highly requesting Major General Josue Gaberza, Division Commander, Philippine Army to conduct thorough investigation of erring military personnel of the 9th Infrantry Division and their cohorts who are involved in criminal activities and criminal charges against them,” was unanimously approved at the Board Monday.
Espiritu said that the public is deeply concerned with the alarming increase of robbery hold-ups, kidnap for ransom, drug trafficking and other crimes perpetuated by some military personnel.
He also said that the government effort in preventing crimes is useless unless scalawags in the military are identified and charged criminally.
The arrest of PFC’s Fermin Sayno and Randy Alsmael who were positively identified by the victim Janine Sarasa as suspects in grabbing her cell phone after the duo were caught in a check point also in possession of illegal drugs was also mentioned in the resolution.
Espiritu expressed hope for immediate action of Major General Josue Gaberza on their resolution. (NORIEL OYA)
