4 fishing vessels missing at sea in Camarines Norte

DAET Camarines Norte (Sep 27, 2011)  - As ”Pedring” instensified in Bicol starting  Sunday (Sept. 25), 4  fishing vessels with undetermined number of crew member  sailed to sea from the towns of Mercedes, Vinzons and Jose Panganiban and have been missing since Monday (Sept. 26).

Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction  Management Council (PDRRMC)  spokesman Caloy Galvez reported  Monday evening  that when Bicol was under Typhoon signal no. 3, three fishing vessels from barangays Apwao, Cuatro all in Mercedes town and barangay Sabang in Vinzons still sailed to sea and remain unaccounted to date.

Philippine Coast Guard, Detachment commander in Camarines Norte, Lawrence Tamayo also reported that one of the missing vessel,  “Queen Fillery,” included among its crew Julius Clasio, Ruben Lopez Jr. and Jovener Blusa.

Another unnamed vessel from Jose Panganiban included Antonio Agua, Crisanto Lansadera, Nestor Bareto, Salve Sarmiento, Ray Manait and Gaspar Hernan  among its passengers.

PDRRMC official Erving Naing also reported on Tuesday, (Sept. 27) that they still need to confirm a report that 10 fishermen from Sabang, Vinzons town are also missing,

In Butuanan, Siruma, Camarines Sur on Monday, 27 fishermen from Mercedes were rescued by residents.

The  Mercedes fishermen were riding a group of  9 fishing boats that were all swept by giant waves to the coastal village of Butuanan on Monday at the height of Typhoon Pedring.

Butuanan barangay Captain Emmanuel Lara Dantes identified the rescued fiehermen as: Joven Pacumbala, Rommel Sapan, Albert Vega Renden Caro, Juliver  Irmineo,  Ayen Abierta, Rene Ramos, Antonio Torres, Ramil Ramos, Ronnie Agbunag, Carlos Abiog, Rodel Esena, Mark Anthony Butiac, Cerojan Butiac, Alexis Leni, Bong Torio, Jomer Bristol and a certain Carasicas.

Other fishermen were also identified as: Irwin Abiera, Henry Sabaco, Jermie Boque, Edwin Quioñes, Domingo Aringo and Pedro Torio. Three others rescued are unnamed.                                          

The Philippine Coast Guard Detachment  in Pasacao, Camarines Sur reported that six fishermen from Caranan, Pasacao who were earlier reported lost at sea have returned to their families and others took refuge in Amisola Island in Siruma.

Another fisherman in Mambulao, Ragay, Camarines Sur identified as, Francisco Escanilla, was also reported missing in Ragay Gulf since Monday. (SONNY SALES)
