Azkals lose to Kuwait Al-Azraq, 0-3

KUWAIT CITY (July 24, 2011) - The Kuwait Al-Azraq nailed 3 of their 20 attempts to beat the Philippine Azkals, 3-0, in the first leg of the second round of their World Cup 2014 Qualifying match last night. The Azkals were held scoreless as none of their 7 attempts was converted.

The Philippine Azkals, put on the defensive most of the time, pretty much held their ground until the 17th minute into the hard-fought game when Yousef Nasser nailed the only goal of the first half.

Azkals loses to Timor Leste, 2-1

MANILA, Philippines (Nov. 7, 2011) – Junior Azkals remain scoreless in the 26th Southeast Asian Games as it vows tonight to Timor Leste, which continues to spring surprises as the tiny nation scored its second consecutive win, this time at the expense of the Philippine Azkals Under-23 squad, 2-1, at the Lebak Bulus Stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia tonight.

Azkals shut out Sri Lanka, 4-0

MANILA Philippines (July 3, 2011 6:00 P.M.) - For the first time the Philippine Football team advances to the 2nd round of the World Cup Qualifiers after the Philippine Azkals win by a 4-0 shutout of Sri Lanka Brave Reds this afternoon at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium in Manila.

MANILA Philippines (July 3, 2011 6:00 P.M.) - For the first time the Philippine Football team advances to the 2nd round of the World Cup Qualifiers after the Philippine Azkals win by a 4-0 shutout of Sri Lanka Brave Reds this afternoon at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium in Manila.

With the win, the Azkals advance to face the higher ranked Kuwaiti team on July 23 and 28.

After preliminary ceremonies, the game started at exactly 3:00 P.M. despite the rains that soaked the ground and the players. All the 4 game officials were South Koreans.
