Ombudsman OKs graft raps vs Mike Arroyo over choppers deal

MANILA, Philippines (Nov 23, 2011) – Finding probable cause, a  fact-finding panel of the Office of the Ombudsman has recommended the filing of graft charges against former first gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo for involvement in the allegedly anomalous second-hand choppers purchase by the Philippine National Police (PNP) in 2009.

The panel said Mike Arroyo has liability for "undue injury to the government" and "for entering into a contract grossly disadvantageous to government."

Robredo sues police officials in purchase scam

MANILA, Philippines (July 12, 2011) - At least four police officials are now being sued for their involvement in questionable multi-million peso procurement of choppers, rubber boats and one patrol boat during the term of former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo announced today that he has ordered the filing of charges against Director George Piano, Senior Superintendent Loi Saligumba, Senior Superintendent Nolan Antonia and Superintendent Edgar Bataan - all of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
