New AFP chief to take on external threats

MANILA, Philippines (Dec 12, 2011) – As the country’s  internal armed conflicts have reached negotiation stages,  it’s time to take on external threats to defend and preserve the Philippines’ sovereignty territorial intergrity

This is President Aquino’s position that is echoed by newly installed Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief Lt. Gen. Jessie Dellosa who declared yesterday that the 125,000-strong military under his watch will focus on territorial now that domestic insurgency problems are being addressed on the negotiating table.

Defense official accused of plunder offers to resign

MANILA, Philippines (June 10 2011) - Defense Assistant Secretary Ernesto Boac has offered to resign or go on indefinite leave after he was included in the amended plunder complaint filed by military corruption whistleblower George Rabusa.

MANILA, Philippines (June 10 2011) - Defense Assistant Secretary Ernesto Boac has offered to resign or go on indefinite leave after he was included in the amended plunder complaint filed by military corruption whistleblower George Rabusa.

Boac, who handles the defense department’s comptrollership activities, said quitting his post or going on indefinite leave would allow him to respond to Rabusa’s allegations.

Stamping Out Corruption in the AFP and the Government

It should be remembered that the corruption scandals that involved the Arroyo family were the subject of so many congressional inquiries and were made as basis for the impeachment complaints that were filed against former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. There are already numerous evidences that were gathered. And yet, the Aquino government has not yet demonstrated the political will to run after the Arroyo family.
