MANILA, Philippines – With the confidence of a leader with solid popular support, President Benigno Aquino III minced no words as he poured his sentiments on the judiciary right in front of Supreme Court Justice Renato Corona during the 1stNational Criminal Justice Summit at Manila Hotel today.

Aquino started his speech on the belief that the Corona was illegally appointed by former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, implying that the SC chief was a “midnight appointee” of his predecessor.

MANILA, Dec. 2, 2011— An official of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines is seeking a resolution of cases related to the coco-levy fund scam, as he called on President Benigno Aquino III to intervene on the issue.

Manila Auxiliary Bishop Broderick Pabillo said Aquino should show “political will” to return billions of pesos in coconut levy funds allegedly stolen from coconut farmers decades back...

MANILA, Philippines (Nov 24, 2011) – The family President Benigno Aquino III's shall soon find themselves landless as the Supreme Court orders the distribution of the Cojuangco-owned 4,915.75-hectare Hacienda Luisita in Tarlac to over 6,000 farmer workers-beneficiaries of the sugar estate.

The SC, in the 56-page ruling obtained by The Star last night, recalled and set aside the option granted to the farmers to remain as stockholders of Hacienda Luisita Inc. (HLI).

PILI, Camarines Sur (Oct. 14, 2011) – Charges of  violation of RA 8550 or the Amended Fisheries Code of the Philippines have been filed against the owners of 6 fishing vessels that are used in large-scale illegal fishing in Ragay Gulf.

The vessels are now in the custody of a special task force of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR)  central office.

The crew of the said vessels were were caught in Ragay Gulf  early this week using prohibited fishing gears like fine nets, bag nets and ring nets.
