MALAYBALAY, Bukidnon, August 4, 2010- The country and its people should brace for a more serious form of corruption should President Benigno Aquino III support the sex education in public schools and reproductive health bill.
This is how Dipolog Bishop Jose Manguiran looks at the present situation.
Interviewed after the opening liturgy for the Mindanao Regional Farmers Conference at the Diocesan Formation Center of Malaybalay, the 74-year old prelate said President Aquino's battle cry to rid the country of corruption would come to naught if he continues to support the controversial programs.
"His campaign slogan 'Kung walang corrupt, walang mahirap' now, he will create a worse form of corruption when he is backing up the sex education and reproductive health because he will teach the children how to have illicit relationships afterall, these teenagers, even the old ones are assured of mechanical, chemical contraceptives," he said.
Asked if the President's stance on sex education and reproductive health bills will not help Philippine society, the prelate said "it will not because it will further worsen corruption."
"We already have material corruption and political corruption and you will add the worst form of corruption which is moral corruption as it is an attack against the person," he concluded. (Melo M. Acuna/CBCPNews)
