The top spot in the boxing world is a familiar territory to Manny Pacquiao and Shane Mosley. After receiving punishing  punches  from Pacquiao in their 12-round Welterweight championship bout in Las Vegas, there remains no doubt in Mosley's head who the real pound-for-pound king  is--- the Pacman.

“I just fought the best fighter in the world. He has power, exceptional power, that I’ve never been hit with before, ” Mosley said in the post-fight interview.

Mosley should know. He has fought with Floyd Mayweather, the closest possible contender to Pacquiao's throne.

Starting slow and cautious in the first two rounds with both fighters feeling out each other before launching their offensives, the fight heated up in the third round when Pacquiao unleashed his combinations that sent Mosley to the floor. Mosley just barely survived the round.

The next rounds showed an overly cautious and defensive Mosley, appearing hesitant to attack, frequently backing away and sometimes tying up Pacquiao. Mosley went down again in the fourth round. But the referee ruled it  a trip, not a knockdown.

Mosley would still manage to land a couple of hard rights, but for every punch that Mosley threw Pacquiao  would unleash three or more.

Pacquiao went down in the tenth round in what appeared to be a slip. But the referee called it a knockdown.  Review of the tapes showed that Mosley stepped on Pacquiao's foot then pushed him. Judges, however, still gave the round to Pacquiao.

In the eighth round, boos could be heard from the MGM Grand crowd of 16,000  when the pace of the fight was slowing down. Observers noted that Pacquiao was less ferocious this time than in his previous fights. It did not help that Mosley looked intimidated, often on the retreat and seemingly  just trying to finish the fight standing on his feet.

Pacquiao went for the kill in the eleventh round but in the end all that Filipino world boxing champion  could offer to the fans to relish was Mosley's swollen face. Pacquiao appeared unscatthed to the end.

The three judges gave a shut out decision---119-108, 120-108, 120-107---all for Pacquiao.
