National Most Wanted arrested in Masbate

CAMP SIMEON OLA, LEGAZPI CITY –  Ruel Caballero Vargas, alias “Weng” who carries a Php. 150,000 bounty on his head and ranked third among the police’s National Most Wanted has recently been arrested in Masbate.

A joint police Intelligence operatives of the PIT5, RIU5, Regional Police Office, 5, led by Police Insp. Gilberto L. Alcovindas conducted the operation in barangay Lanang, Aroroy, Masbate at about 8:00 A.M. on Wednesday (March 6).

According to PNP Regional Office-5 spokesman, Police Supt. Renato Bataller, Vargas was arrested on the strength of a Warrant of arrest for the killing of former NPA leader turned broadcast-journalist Nelson Nadura who was slain in the late 1990’s in Masbate City.

In addition, Vargas has standing warrants for Murder Rebellion charges issued by Judge Maximino R. Ables of RTC Branch 47 of Masbate City.

Meanwhile, Bataller also revealed that murder charges have been filed by the Masbate Police Provincial Office against a barangay Councilor, Noli Puti of Mobo, Masbate, and another unidentified gunman for the killing of Mobo town, Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) president Isagani Lopango at a cockpit  arena in Mobo, last , March 2.

Bataller also said that a certain Del Rosario brothers are also facing Murder charges for the killing of Mabalod, Masbate Councilor Landislao Macuha, who was also shot in a cockpit arena in Mabalod town last March 3. (SONNY SALES)
