Joel Cadiz resigns as Solicitor General

MANILA, Philippines (Feb 6, 2012) - At least 2 Cabinet members have confirmed that Solicitor General Jose Anselmo Cadiz has resigned from his post.

Justice Secretary Leila de Lima said that Cadiz personally tendered his resignation to the President last Friday.

Presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda also confirmed Cadiz's resignation.

Cadiz, sources say, likes to go back to private law practice.

Malacañang is expected to make an official announcement today regarding the resignation.

Cadiz, former president of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines, has not made a confirmation of his resignation as of press time.

His resignation came after he defended before the Supreme Court last year the Department of Agrarian Reform’s position on the distribution of Hacienda Luisita, owned by Aquino’s family, to farmers in Tarlac. (From Philstar.com)
