GMA Network wing in 12th Gawad Tanglaw

GMA Network was recognized in the 12th Gawad Tanglaw Awards held on March 12, Wednesday, at the Colegio de San de Letran University in Calamba, Laguna.

GMA’s flagship radio station DZBB was awarded as Best AM Station.

For television, top-rating news magazine program Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho was awarded as the Best Magazine Show; while GMA News TV’s flagship newscast, State of the Nation with Jessica Soho, was named as Best News Program. Both programs are bannered by GMA Network’s First Vice President for News Programs Jessica Soho, the country’s most awarded broadcast journalist.

Internationally acclaimed I documentary program I-Witness won the Best Documentary Program; while Wish Ko Lang, hosted by Vicky Morales, was awarded Best Public Service Program.

Unang Hirit host Love Añover received the Developmental Communication Award for Comprehensive Reportage on Super Typhoon Yolanda.

Gawad Tanglaw also honored actress Jean Garcia with the Best Performance by an Actress award for her portrayal of a mother with an autistic child in the “Hinagpis ng Isang Ina” episode of Magpakailanman, which also received the Best Drama Anthology Award.

The cast of the primetime series “My Husband’s Lover” –Dennis Trillo, Carla Abellana, Tom Rodriguez, Chanda Romero, Roi Vinzon and Kuh Ledesma – took home the Best Ensemble Performance (TV Series) Award.

Child superstar Ryzza Mae Dizon was named as the BATA (Bibo, Aktibo at Talentadong Anak ng Sining) Awardee while veteran actress Nova Villa received the Natatanging Gawad Tanglaw Sa Sining Ng Telebisyon Award.

Now on its 12th year, Gawad Tanglaw (Tagapuring mga Akademisyan ng Aninong Gumagalaw) is an academe-based award -giving body that recognizes TV, radio, print and theater arts personalities for their exemplary work in their respective fields and contributions to the development of Philippine arts.
