Crime surge in Libmanan noted

NAGA CITY – Police provincial director Senior Supt. Ramon S. Ranara ordered the police authorities of Libmanan, Camarines Sur Wed. (Aug.15) to intensify the manhunt of three suspects who remain at large after shooting and killing a Libmanan policeman, PO1 Arnel S. Carullo, and wounding Camambugan barangay captain Crensencio Moral Labrador.

On Thurs. (Aug. 16), Provincial police community relations chief, Police Supt. Cirilo Trilles, identified the fugitives as: Marlix Oros Capuquian, 26: Ikim Dangky, 30; and Obet Lebrino, 27, all residents of San Miguel, Las Navas, Northern Samar. All three escaped arrest after the shooting incident. The leader of the group, Jundy Pajanustan Oras, was captured by the police after a brief gunfight.

The Visayan suspects tagged as the “Oros robbery-holdup gang” was charged of “Murder, Frustrated Murder, and Assault upon agent or person in authority” before the Libmanan Regional Trial Court (RTC).

Official police report bared, that before the shooting incident, Camambugan barangay captain Labrador reported to the Libmanan MPS the presence of four suspicious Visayan –speaking men loitering the village on the evening of Aug. 14.

Four policemen were dispatched by the Libmanan police to check on the suspicious persons. At sitio Aguja, barangay Camambugan, PO1 Carullo together with his group approached the suspects to check on their identities but they were immediately fired upon by the suspects who were armed with Cal. 45 pistols.

Carullo immediately died from bullet wounds, while Labrador was brought to the Mother Seton Hospital in Naga City for treatment of a bullet wound on the nape.

The police reported, the group appeared to be planning a robbery-holdup to produce money for travel to Metro Manila.

Meanwhile, the Libmanan MPS is also investigating the killing of Umalo, Libmanan barangay kagawad Nicanor Legaspi Bugasan, 37 years old, who was shot dead by motorcycle riding-men on the evening of August 14 right at his home in the said locality.
