NABUA, CAMARINES SUR – After President Noynoy Aquino announced the abolition of the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) when the Php10 Billion Napoles pork barrel scam exploded in the open, beneficiaries of the pork barrel system have quietly worried about possible loss of financial support that they receive out of the PDAF of lawmakers.

MANILA Philippines - One day before the anti-pork barrel 'One Million March' to Luneta today, Budget and Management Secretary Florencio Abad tried to placate critics by explaining at length President Aquino's announcement abolishing the controversial Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) and replacing it with a line item budgeting system in which Congress will still have a say.

LPA east of Mindanao may affect Bicol

MANILA, Philippines - A low-pressure area (LPA) spotted east of Mindanao yesterday is expected to bring rains over some parts of the country this weekend, the state weather bureau said.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the low-pressure area has a good chance of intensifying into a cyclone within the next two to three days.

PAGASA said the new disturbance would be locally named “Nando” once it becomes a cyclone.
