BPI APPROVES 60M FOR THE MODERNIZATION OF CORBOX CORP. The Bank of the Philippine Islands through its Sustainable Energy Finance (SEF) Program, a partnership between BPI and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) recently approved a P60 million loan for the modernization and upgrade of Corbox Corp. facilities in Cagayan de Oro City. The modernization will generate 54% savings in the company's energy consumption and increase volume of production of corrugated boxes. Pangataman-Bikol, an NGO pushing for environmental protection and preservation, is highly skeptical of it given that it is a quick repudiation of Monte Oro's earlier declaration that it was still exploring prospective coal areas.
