BPI approves 60M for the modernization of CORBOX Corp

BPI APPROVES 60M FOR THE MODERNIZATION OF CORBOX CORP. The Bank of the Philippine Islands through its Sustainable Energy Finance (SEF) Program, a partnership between BPI and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) recently approved a P60 million loan for the modernization and upgrade of Corbox Corp. facilities in Cagayan de Oro City. The modernization will generate 54% savings in the company's energy consumption and increase volume of production of corrugated boxes. The BPI-IFC SEF Program provides assistance to private companies to invest in technologies that will generate savings in their energy consumption.

DPWH opens two Albay bridges to traffic

LIGAO CITY, Aug. 26 - Two vital bridges were opened on Friday to traffic, linking this city to other towns and villages in the province, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) 3rd engineering district said here Wednesday. The newly constructed bridges are the Basag and Tobgon bridges in the villages of Basag and Batang in this city.

How true and sincere is the statement of Monte Oro Resources & Energy Inc. that it has abandoned its coal mining project in Catanduanes? Pangataman-Bikol, an NGO pushing for environmental protection and preservation, is highly skeptical of it given that it is a quick repudiation of Monte Oro's earlier declaration that it was still exploring prospective coal areas.
