Legazpi City (22 April) -- Fresh from the successful "Regional Forum on Environmental Concerns" which set the Bicol Environmental Agenda, the PANGATAMAN-Bikol (Bicol Center for Environmental Protection) challenged both local and national candidates to start cleaning-up their campaign materials beginning tomorrow in commemoration of Earth Day.

Four suspected PAG members in Masbate nabbed

MANILA, April 23 -- Former UN peacekeepers who were newly deployed to augment Special Task Force Masbate, arrested four suspected members of a partisan armed group (PAG) in Bgy. Naocondiot, Placer, Masbate on Thursday afternoon, a military officer said. Major Harold M. Cabunoc, Division Spokesperson said that the former UN peacekeepers are among the combined elements of the STF Masbate which was sent to check the reported presence of gun-toting gunmen in the village.

Emergency rule, not martial law, in Basilan

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, April 17, 2010-Instead of martial law, it would be best to put Basilan under an emergency rule, a former top-ranking official of the influential Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) said yesterday. Cagayan de Oro Archbishop Antonio J. Ledesma, S.J., D.D. said that martial law will only trigger more instability and perpetuate the insecurity of the people of Basilan.
