Alejandro IV, was releasing a report on the impacts of tropical storm and consequent lahar flows from Mayon Volcano and the flooding in Albay in July brought by previous typhoon, “Juaning.”

LEGAZPI CITY, Aug. 23 (PIA) -- The Albay Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Council (PDRRMC) remains on heightened alert since Sunday this week in the wake of tropical depression Mina expected to bring widespread rains that may trigger flashfloods and landslides.

Albay Gov. Joey Salceda, also chair of the PDRRMC, on Monday had already issued advisory putting the province under alert status and directing all three cities and 15 towns on 24-hour watch and be ready to carry out flood and landslide evacuation plans.

Since last week, AKO-Bicol Party-list representatives Rodel Batocabe, Chrisptoher Co and Alfredo Garbin Jr. have distributed relief goods to evacuees in the still flooded areas in the provinces of Albay and Camarines Sur.

The Regional Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (RDRRMC), said that Juaning caused the death of 32 people in the Bikol region - 12 in Albay, 6 in Catanduanes, 6 in Camarines Norte, 5 in Camarines Sur, 2 in Masbate and 1 in Sorsogon.

Legazpi City (21 January 2011)-- No damage was wrought on Albay’s forestland after three weeks of continuous heavy rains that bombarded the province which caused flooding and landslide in several disaster susceptible areas, reported the regional DENR office in this city.

LEGAZPI CITY, Nov. 19  - At least 41 volcanic earthquakes jolted Mount Bulusan on Friday, the highest number so far detected by seismic instruments for the past five days, signifying that pressure is still building up and this may probably lead to more ash and steam laden explosions, volcanologists said.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) bulletin reported that seismic network detected a total of 41 volcanic earthquakes during the past 24 hours.
