LEGAZPI CITY, Aug. 23 (PIA) -- The Albay Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Council (PDRRMC) remains on heightened alert since Sunday this week in the wake of tropical depression Mina expected to bring widespread rains that may trigger flashfloods and landslides.

Albay Gov. Joey Salceda, also chair of the PDRRMC, on Monday had already issued advisory putting the province under alert status and directing all three cities and 15 towns on 24-hour watch and be ready to carry out flood and landslide evacuation plans.

LEGAZPICITY, Feb. 24 -- Albay Governor Joey Salceda on Thursday urged Congress to pass a P750-million emergency supplemental budget to be used in repatriating overseas Filipino workers (OFW) caught in the armed conflict in four countries in the Middle East.

LEGAZPI CITY, Jan. 13 2011  - President Benigno Aquino III is set to arrive here on Friday to personally assess the damages wrought by floods and landslides caused by heavy rains that hit several towns of the province including this city, Albay Governor Joey Salceda said Thursday.

Salceda said preparations are in place for the arrival of President Aquino, who will be briefed by local and national disaster authorities concerning the current disaster situation, relief operation, the extent of damages and the proposed disaster rehabilitation plan.

LEGAZPI CITY, Jan. 8–- Because to their disaster risk reduction strategy, the Albay Provincial Safety and Emergency Management Office (APSEMO) reported on Saturday that no casualty was recorded despite the 73 landslides brought by continuous heavy rains in the province for the past 18 days.

As of Jan. 8, the provincial government of Albay has evacuated a total of 12,344 and 59,526 families affected by flooding and landslides, respectively.
