LEGAZPI CITY (Aug 21, 2011) – Seven Masbate policemen belonging to the Municipal Police Station of Mobo, Masbate and the Masbate Police Office Public Safety Company received the “Medalya Ng Sugatang Magiting” and several others received the “Medalya ng Kagalingan” during a visit by Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jesse Robredo at the DILG Regional Office here on Thursday, (August 18).

Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo announced today that he has ordered the filing of charges against Director George Piano, Senior Superintendent Loi Saligumba, Senior Superintendent Nolan Antonia and Superintendent Edgar Bataan - all of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Wilson Flores of Phil Star reported few days ago such revelation by the multi-awarded, 41 year-old, head of the biggest province in Bicol. Camarines Sur has already overtaken Metro Manila and Boracay in number of tourist visitors. Very soon, Hollywood stars are expected to shoot films in the province. During his first few months in office as DILG Secretary, Jesse Robredo made it a priority to issue a memorandum circular requiring all local government units to fully disclose their budget and how they are spending it to their constituents. Clearly, this initiative is in line with the campaign promise of President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III to curb graft and corruption through the promotion of transparency and public accountability...Camarines Sur Governor LRay Villafuerte, submitted a petition to the Supreme Court (SC) asking the SC to declare this memorandum as unconstitutional...
