Sloppy handling of STL shares revealed

MANILA, Philippines (July 19, 2011) - The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) has no way of knowing whether the shares of small town lottery (STL) income it distributes to the localities go to intended beneficiaries.

Malacañang scraps PCSO intelligence fund

MANILA, Philippines (July 10, 2011) - The Palace has decided that the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) shall no longer be entitled to intelligence fund. Budget Secretary Florencio Abad said yesterday that agencies, including the PCSO,that have nothing to do with government intelligence work shall not anymore receive allocation for intelligence fund. And one thing more - use of all intelligence funds now requires liquidation.

Abad stressed that these are among the reforms that President Aquino likes to see implemented.

CASURECO II Warns of Yet Higher Power Rates

Naga City (May 13, 2011)  - The Therma Luzon Incorporated, an affiliate of the Aboitiz Group of Companies and the main power supplier of Camarines Sur II Electric Cooperative (CASURECO II), has suspended the contract to sell electricity to the cooperative because of the latter’s failure to pay its debts amounting to 67 million pesos. This was revealed by Jane Barrameda, OIC General Manager of CASURECO II.
