QUEZON CITY , Philippines (Dec 13, 2011) - Broadcast giant GMA Network, Inc. (GMA) filed a petition with the Supreme Court (SC) to review the P100 million civil damages case lodged against ABS-CBN Corp. after the Court of Appeals (CA) upheld its ruling dismissing the same in a decision dated August 15, 2011.

The Network filed the complaint seeking damages against the Lopez-owned station on November 10, 2005 based the latter’s malicious statements which were intended to cast discredit and dishonor to GMA on live nationwide broadcast.

GMA Network, Inc. has appointed Felipe S. Yalong as the Company’s new Executive Vice President effective December 1, 2011.

The new GMA EVP will remain the Company’s Chief Financial Officer and Group Head of its Corporate Services Group.

Yalong is a key figure behind GMA Network's IPO in 2007. He has played a crucial role in the Network’s phenomenal rise in revenues and profit since GMA Network Chairman and CEO Felipe L. Gozon and President and COO Gilberto R. Duavit, Jr. took over the Company’s management a decade ago. 

GMA Network, Inc. has appointed Felipe S. Yalong as the Company’s new Executive Vice President effective December 1, 2011.

(GMA), in partnership with the Primer Group of Companies ( Philippines ), backs Filipino mountain climber Romi Garduce’s bid to finish the Seven Summits quest. Garduce is set to summit Mt. Vinson Massif in the Antarctic Region this December 2011/January 2012.  If successful, Garduce will be the first Filipino to complete this elite mountaineering record. Nationwide ratings winner GMA Network, Inc. (GMA) further hiked its lead in television ratings versus competitors ABS-CBN and TV5 from October to November, according to broadcast industry’s most trusted ratings service provider Nielsen TV Audience Measurement.

Based on full November data (November 27 to 30 based on overnight readings), GMA remained the number one free-to-air television channel with 37.5 total day average household audience share points, ahead of ABS-CBN’s 29.3 points by an imposing 8.2 points; and much higher than TV5’s 15.

Leading television station GMA Network, Inc. (GMA) clearly dominated the 2011 Golden Screen Awards for Television held last Tuesday (November 29) in Greenhills, San Juan -- bagging more than half of the 50 awards given away that night.

GMA’s News and Public Affairs team lived up to the distinction of being the country’s most credible and most awarded broadcast news organization with a number of recognitions led by its banner newscast 24 Oras, anchored by the formidable tandem of Mike Enriquez and Mel Tiangco, winning as Best News Program.

Starstruck discovery LJ Reyes and Filipino-American model Isabelle Abriera signed exclusive contracts with GMA Network Inc. last November 16.

Leading Philippine broadcast station GMA Network, Inc. (GMA) closed September with a strong win in national television ratings against ABS-CBN and TV5.

In fact, national viewership from the start of 2011 till the closing of the nine-month period showed a trending that establishes GMA as the top choice among the country’s free-to-air channels. Data come from broadcast industry’s most widely trusted ratings service provider Nielsen TV Audience Measurement.

Total day (6am-12mn) household audience share data in September (September 25 to 30 based on overnight readings) show that GMA was the most preferred channel in National Urban Philippines relative to ABS-CBN and TV5, clinching 34.1 share points, 4.1 points ahead of ABS-CBN’s 30 points, and almost twice TV5’s 17.3.

According to full July household data (July 24 to 31 based on overnight ratings) in National Urban Television Audience Measurement (NUTAM), GMA posted a total day average audience share of 34.2 points, 2.8 points ahead of ABS-CBN’s 31.4; and 18.8 points higher than TV5’s 15.4.

Quezon City , Philippines (August 2, 2011) – – Leading broadcast company GMA Network, Inc. (GMA) showed strong momentum in the first half of 2011 as it improved regular advertising revenues and nationwide ratings – the industry players’ two most important performance indicators – quarter-on-quarter.

Given GMA’s sustained nationwide dominance since the start of the year, GMA posted a 14 percent increase worth P449 million in consolidated revenues to P3.587 billion in the second quarter from the previous quarter’s P3.138 billion.
