Naga City (May 12, 2011) - Vox Bikol writer/contributor Noriel Oya was elected first President of the newly organized Bicol Medical Center (BMC) Press Corps at the BMC Auditorium yesterday, May 11. Oya is also active in the local broadcast media as part of radio station BBS DWLV.
Other elected officers are Toti Repane of PBN TV5, Vice-President for Television; Adiel Auxillo of Bombo Radyo, Vice-President for Radio; Shiena Barrameda of Bicol Mail, Vice-President for Print; Joel Jeremias of radio station DZOK, Secretary; Melvin Machado of PBN TV5, Treasurer; Renan Relloso of radio station RMN-DWNX, Auditor; and Pio August Vergara of Bombo Radyo, Public Information Officer.
The creation of BMC Press Corps is part of the reform packages initiated by Dr. Efren SJ Nierva, newly appointed director of the BMC, aimed at making the daily operation of the medical center transparent to the public. Since taking office, Dr. Nierva has actively solicited the help of the media as BMC's partner in its delivery of better public service.
The BMC Press Corps office, located near the BMC emergency room, was also innaugurated
