OCAMPO, CAMARINES SUR - Three long-time cattle rustlers finally fell to the folds of the law after they were nabbed by the local police with the help of local residents, who saw them loading two sacks of cattle meat in a tricycle at Barangay San Francisco in this municipality.
Last May 16, Ocampo town, Police Sr. Insp. Alejo Hernandez bared that suspects: Jayson Laynesa Nallatan, 22, a resident of Cagmanaba, Ocampo; Pedro Licop, San Jose, 37, of barangay Bongcao, Curry; and Domingo Andales Espanto, 40, of Sagrada, all of Pili town, have been charged for violation of PD no. 533 or "the Anti-Cattle Rustling Law."
Earlier, Hernandez also reported that local residents flocked at the police station and filed charges against the three suspects implicating them in past cattle rustling incidents in the locality.
Reportedly, the trio was caught by local residents after slaughtering during the night a cattle owned by Domingo Batutay in the said barangay.
Police sources also said that rampant cattle rustling here have been linked to the suspects, including a case of stolen cattle in the early 1980's. (Sonny Sales)
